A Region is made up of a cluster of of Areas within the predefined Geographical Location known as a Country. i.e. (Australia)

WHAT IS AN AREA?

A Area is made up of a cluster of Districts within the predefined Geographical Location known as a Region. i.e (Area C of Eastern Region)

WHAT IS AN AREA ASSEMBLY?

An Area Assembly comprises the GSRs of the Area, the Area Committee, the Area Delegate and Alternate. The Assembly is the mainspring of the Conference structure, the democratic voice of the Fellowship expressing its wishes. Assemblies are the responsibility of the Area Committee and are conducted by its Chairperson. Assemblies may be held as often as the Area wishes and it is here that the Delegate to the GSC is elected. Experience has shown that the Election Assembly should be held soon after Conference but no later than January; the outgoing Delegate can then use that Assembly to report on the business of Conference to his Area.

WHAT IS AN DISTRICT? 

An AA District is a geographical unit within an Area containing a number of AA Groups, the number being dependent on the ability of the General Service Representatives (GSRs) to communicate between each other and to meet regularly together with comparative ease. A metropolitan District may cover a small Area but contain 15-20 Groups, while a rural District may cover many square kilometres but include as few as 3 or 4 Groups.

 As the number of Groups in an Area increases more Districts are formed, each new one then electing another District Committee Member (DCM) to the Area Committee. Experience has shown that the answer to growth rests in the setting up of more Districts to meet the Fellowship's expansion in size and activities, that is, more DCMs rather than more Areas and more Area Delegates at the Conference.

 Because of the closer communication links within the District the Groups are able to share together and to carry their message more effectively. In Areas where communication is difficult because of vast distances the District brings communication and support to more Groups. i.e. (Greater Newcastle District of Area C)

About Area C

 There are 7 Areas in the Eastern Region NSW-ACT.

 Area C was the third Area within the eastern Region to become active as an area that is why it is designate as Area C, Area A was the first Area active in the Eastern  Region. 

 Area C Geographical covers.

 From Hawkesbury River,  North to and including Karuah and west to the eastern side of Muswellbrook.

 Central Coast, Lower Hunter & Newcastle

 Central Coast has approximately 60 meetings, Newcastle and the Lower Hunter have approximately 60 meetings.
